Zhou Yiyan
Zhou Yiyan is a contemporary sculptor based in France, known for pushing the boundaries of visual arts. Her work reflects deep contemplation on human nature, the relationship between beings and their environment, and the fluidity of dance. Drawing inspiration from natural forms and the human body, Yiyan creates evocative sculptures using materials like earth, porcelain, brass, bronze, and gold. Her pieces blend the fragility of ceramics with the strength of metals, exploring contrasts and harmonies.
In addition to sculpture, Yiyan engages in performances that combine drawing, sculpture, dance, and music, showcasing her passion for movement and expression. Originally from Anhui, China, she studied art and design at Shanghai Normal University and fashion design at Studio Berçot in Paris. Her work has received wide acclaim, including the Young Creation Award in crafts from Les Ateliers d’Art de France in 2016, and is frequently exhibited in international galleries and art fairs.
