Peter Boersma
In Peter’s artistic work, he combines his love for form and composition with the self-developed technique of ‘tape transfers’. He uses pieces of regular household tape to tear fibers, shreds or fragments from old documents. This paper attached to the tape becomes the raw material he then uses to build his stories layer by layer.
Peter made his first tape collage in 1999. Since then, he has incorporated dozens of kilometers of tape into his art. He prefers to work with old magazines, sometimes more than a century old. When working with tape transfers, he allows himself to be guided by what happens to the fibers and shreds of paper of the original image when a new piece of tape is pulled off. He, too, continues to be surprised.
