MirroRE
For Peyman Gerami and Azade Baloochi, a mirror is a material that carries memory, traces of human presence, and the passage of time and Iranian mirror craftsmanship carries historical wisdom. Working with the language of Iranian mirrorwork, they explore how time can be embedded within materials and experienced through reflection.
Where the mirror transforms from a surface through which we see the reflection of our face and body into an observer of ourselves and a reflector of the entirety of human presence in time and history. The reflective structures they create invite viewers to experience themselves as part of a larger continuum of time. Fragments of light, movement, memory, and environment become woven together, transforming reflection from a simple act of recognition into an encounter with perception and presence.
