From an early age, Marike was intrigued by the connection that can occur between an object and its viewer. A story told without words. This awareness makes her want to look beyond the obvious, the visible.
Her natural gift of sensing combined with her love for brands, objects and fascination for the intangibility of time drives her to create moments of being.
In her work, Marike’s main core values consistently emerge. Connection, refinement, proportions and simplicity. These values always relate differently to each work, but never stand alone.
Time and again in her creative process, Marike’s work begins and ends with apparent simplicity. Carefully chosen proportions and materials in her work are an essential element to its visual appeal and contribute to evoke a sense of visual tranquility.
After finishing her study Industrial Product Engineering, Marike Andeweg started her career as a product developer at Pastoe. In that same period she co-founded her first bathroom label. By the age of 30, Marike moved forward and started her own luxury design label that she named Not Only White.
For 12 years she was, besides being responsible for the daily operations at Not Only White, also focusing on the product collections and creative direction of the brand.
In that same period she designed for Dutch design labels Design On Stock and Eyye.
Together with Joost van der Vecht she occasionally forms a design-duo, working for Exsta. Designing for Exsta holds a special and warm place in her heart as their focus is to offer design interior products suitable for the highly demanding healthcare industry.
