Lieke Marleen van Kalken
Lieke Marleen van Kalken (1990, Amsterdam) is a multidisciplinary artist working under the name lilxlylilxly. Since graduating from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2017, she has developed a practice in which perspective takes center stage. Through screen printing, collage, digital and analog photography, and abstract painting, she explores how perception shapes our reality. Her layered works play with optical illusion and the balance between nature and the artificial. In series such as A.R.T. and My Grandma is a Butterfly, she invites the viewer to slow down and look differently. Her work has been exhibited internationally.

My work explores in a playful and layered way how perspective shapes our reality, and invites us to slow down, look attentively, and anew experience the balance between nature and the artificial.
