I live and work in Rotterdam (the Netherlands)
In my work my intuition is my framework. I try to understand what I am intuitively seeing to recreate this in my work. This only becomes clear later on. Letting go of your thoughts at the start of process, not wishing to understand it, is the basis of the work.
That’s where it’s created.
I like things that bear traces of dirt, grime and weather. I like objects that have changed under the influence of time and which evoke a sense of melancholy.
What interest me are the shapes which have evolved through time. Weathered, peeled, broken, sheared, dented objects.
It’s a way of seeing beauty in the imperfection of the things around us. But also in life in general. Seeing that the beauty of one’s self lies in its imperfection.
I work with a variety of materials, water-based paints and unstretched fabric.
