Florian Appelt
Florian Appelt, born in Vienna in , studied fine arts with a focus on graphic design and printmaking at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from to and completed a doctoral degree in the digital art market in . His works have been shown in national and international exhibitions in Europe, including Stockholm, Berlin and the Netherlands. The Silicon series of works addresses the interface between humans and machines. The title refers both to Silicon Valley as the birthplace of digitalisation and to the element silicon, which is of fundamental importance in semiconductor production as well as in the human body. Appelt thereby takes up a material metaphor that inextricably intertwines technology and organic matter.
