Daniël van Dijck experiments with glass, precious metals and ceramics, among other things, and creates everyday objects. His work combines his experience as a cook, with design and as an artist. He creates functional, mostly handmade, unique and limited artworks as well as plates, vases, cutlery and bowls.
His starting point is an exploration of the history of an object and its use over the years. He plays with people’s assumptions when approaching a piece of furniture or an object by using unconventional or conventional materials in a renewed way. Over the years, Daniël has developed a series of product and furniture designs that are characterised by an intuitive and experimental method and materials.
Daniël van Dijck (1986) is a conceptual designer educated at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (BA in Interior Architecture) and the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam (MA in Design).
