For Amber, art isn’t just about what you see; it’s primarily about what you feel. She works intuitively—thinking in images, shapes, and movement—and she begins each piece without a set plan. Amber always work on several canvases at once, so her focus keeps shifting. One painting also comes far more easily than another. But no work comes into being entirely without a struggle. Almost always there’s a moment of: ugh, something’s off, something needs to change. Sometimes small, sometimes quite big. She might actually love that struggle, symbolically. Because what just comes drifting in easily in life, what’s that really worth? Working hard for something, growing through it, overcoming something, that’s what makes it valuable. It makes you better and more grateful. And then of course there are the works that bring the right feeling in one go. That makes her intensely happy.
