Eline Boerma (b.1999 in NL) graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht in 2022 and is now based out of Rotterdam. Eline reflects on her own experiences in the world through painting. Her expansive, abstract canvases offer a dive into bursts of energetic brushstrokes and are meditations on nature, the body and materiality. The intuitive approach to painting translates her lived experience in the world to the canvas in a free and playful way, creating powerful compositions that are filled with life. Whether capturing the beauty of a fleeting moment or exploring the depths of the human experience, Eline’s work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find solace in the beauty that surrounds them. It is the constant search that forces her to keep working, much more than finding a neat solution. The artist is interested in the possibilities of painting and the freedom that can be found in it. Attention and concentration is paid to the nature of each paint stroke, its impulse, speed and direction. The risk of failure is always there and is also necessary. However, it also involves letting go and allowing, so the paintings can arise naturally within the adventure of painting.
